LLANHARAN 29  SECONDS 26

This was a thoroughly entertaining game of rugby played in excellent spirit with the final result in doubt right upto the final whistle. Llanharan started strongly and went into an early 10 - 0 lead with a penalty and converted try. The Mules struck back when centre Jame Meers ripped through the Llanharan defence, chipped ahead for winger Kyle Evans who hacked on for Meers to complete the score. The try was converted by full back Scott Hancock. Llanharan then extended their lead following a lapse in the Mules defence which allowed Llanharan to kick and chase to score a converted try close to the posts. The game was being played at a high intensity which was being helped by a no nonsense approach from the referee who kept fiirm control on proceedings throughout the 80 minutes. The Mules scored next following an intelligent box kick from scrum Half Tom Briggs that was gathered by vetreran war horse Richard Underhill who showed deft skills to off load to winger Rhys Stanton who crossed under the posts. The try was converted by Hancock. Llanharan finished the half with another penalty to leave the score at half time 20 - 14.
In the second half Llanharan punished the Mules with three more well taken penalties, but the Mules necver gave up playing their attacking game and they scored further tries from the excellent Briggs and a 1 yard dash from Underhill following a concerted forward drive. Hancock converted one of the tries to leave the score with 5 minutes remaining 29 - 26. Although the Mules camped themselves in the Llanharan 22, resolute defending and a couple of wrong options from the Mules meant there were no more scores.
Congratulations to both teams for putting on such an entertaining game of rugby.
The Mules coaches gave the Man of the Match award to Jamie Meers but all players deserve credit.
For Llanharn there was a very impresive display of goal kicking from Wayne Jarvis whose personal contribution of 19 points was ultimately the difference betwen the two teams.

This was another excellent result for the Mules against local rivals Tondu in the sunshine in North Cornelly this afternoon. From the outset the Mules backline threatened to cut loose but dogged defence from a hardworking Tondu side limited the Mules to only one first half try via a fifty yard dash from left wing flier Steven Shalders.

In the second half the Mules scored a further two long range tries, both scored by young full back Scott Hancock. The first was made by some destructive running from centre Dai Williams who timed his scissors pass to Hancock with perfection for a well worked try under the sticks. The second try was an individual effort from Hancock who had an all round excellent game in both in defence and attack.

The three tries were converted by busy scrum half Matthew Tossell who also kicked two first half penalties.

Congratulations to Tondu who battled throughout the game and showed some excellent support play between backs and forwards especially in the second half.

But it was the Mules who thoroughly deserved the victory with some fine individual displays from 1 to 15. The supporters man of the match was given to no 8 Dai Dent closely followed by his fellow backrow men Craig Williams and Alan Brace
