(Enoch Lewis Cup)

The Mules second string continued on their winning ways with a more comfortable than the score suggests win over a plucky Heol Y Cyw side at a windy Kenfig Hill this afternoon.

From the outset the Mules forwards dominated their opposite pack, especially in the set scrums and they were awarded an early penalty try following a series of reset scrums.

The Mules then proceeded to dominated field territory for the rest of the half but only managed one more try following a driving lineout. In the final minutes of the first half Heol Y Cyw scored a good try themselves following a short period of sustained pressure on the Mules try line.

The second half was a similar forward orientated affair with not much open rugby played due to the extremely blustery conditions. Another close range forward drive resulted in a third try with two Mules players claining the final touchdown. However the Mules backline eventually got involved in the scoring and elusive fullback Lewis Morgan crossed for a fine try to seal a well deserved victory that ensured the Mules progress into the next round of the Enoch Lewis Cup.

There were many stand out perfomances from the Mules pack, not only from the starting eight, but also from the substitutes who all made positive contributions to the victory.  The Mules back row of Dai Dent, Sam Richards and Matthew Bater each gave powerful performances both in attack and defence and continually 'fronted up' throughout the match. Others to catch the eye were substitute front row forwards Gareth Evans and Keiron Tomlin.

The coaches decided to give the Man of the Match award to young lock Ross Cooper who gave an 80 minute solid performance in the Mules engine room.

Scorers Kenfig Hill:

Ashley Hickie 1 Try
Sam Richards/Matthew Keylock 1 Try
Lewis Morgan 1 Try
Lloyd Giles 1 Con
