The seconds put on a powerful display to overcome a plucky Brackla outfit at the home of the Mules this afternoon. It was very encouraging to see so many players (28 !) all keen and 'looking for a game' for this first match of the 2010/11 season and as this was a friendly match all players had a good run out.

There was a man of the match performance from hooker Alun Brace who was always in the thick of the action. Other players to mention were last year's youth products, No 8 Tom Butcher, fly half Owen Davies and winger Lewis Morgan who ran in three excellent tries.

The seconds next game is a league match away to Tonmawr on Thursday 9th September.

Youth

Nantyfyllon 5  Cornelly/Kenfig Hill 16

Scorers:

Mike Kennedy 1 Try
Dan Heatley 3 Pens 1 Con

Congratulations on a splendid performance performance by a very young youth team who pulled out all the stops to overcome a more experienced Nanty fifteen.

Mark Clarke Sevens
Many thanks to all players, referees and supporters who all contributed in making the annual Mark Clarke sevens a success.

The eventual tournament winners were Bridgend Athletic who came out on top in a very hard fought final against a powerful Glamorgan Wanderers outfit.

It was also very pleasing to see Gordon Clarke in attendance who made the presentations of trophies to both teams and officials at the final whistle.

Also thanks to the Kenfig Hill members, committee men and bar staff who worked tirelessly throughout the day of the tournament.

And finally a special thanks to Richard (Dickie) Jones who's efforts in the weeks and months leading up to Bank Holiday Monday ensured that the tournament went ahead with a total of 12 youth teams competing.

U10s superb runners-up at Maesteg Celtic Tournament, losing the final only 2-1. Heroic displays from the Mules against some very, very, very big under 10s opposition! Well done lads!
